Updated: Feb 23

On February 20, 2026, the Public Union “Alliance for Sustainable Development of Ukraine” signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The document was signed by Oleksandr Nefyodov, Chairman of the Board of the Alliance, and Maksym Ostapenko, Director General of the National Preserve.

The Memorandum establishes a long-term framework for cooperation in the preservation, restoration, and promotion of Ukraine’s cultural heritage. The partnership includes joint scientific, educational, and cultural initiatives, participation in restoration and conservation projects, and engagement of expert communities in developing professional solutions for heritage protection.

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of Ukraine’s most significant spiritual and cultural landmarks and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The cooperation aims to preserve its historical authenticity, ensure the proper maintenance of heritage sites, and develop modern formats of cultural engagement.

“The signing of this Memorandum marks an important step toward responsible and structured cooperation between civil society and state institutions. Preserving cultural heritage is an investment in future generations,” noted the Chairman of the Alliance.

The Memorandum is concluded for a five-year period and establishes a platform for sustainable collaboration, including potential international cooperation in the field of heritage protection.
